Jake Armstrong shows he’s one of the best overall Cat4 racers in the Northwest! Baker City is one of the biggest stage races of the year, and Jake’s consistency shines through.
The final stage is a 109 mile road race, after having competed at a high level all weekend, the Bobs-bicycles.com racer shows his training and fitness. With temperatures in the 100 degree plus range on a course that had lots of long climbing sections, Jake was able to keep his composure and get a podium!
Jake Armstrong had raced with little help the entire season leading up to the Baker Classic. Ed Philps was Jakes’ only other Cat4 teammate and Ed often rode in the Masters categories. Bobs-bicycles.com developmental racers in the Cat5 class all upgraded for Baker City with the goal of getting Jake a win. With some great individual results, the newly upgraded Cat4s quickly realized how much tougher the Cat4 field would be. Jake Armstrong was able to mentor this new group and also put himself in a position on the final day to be into contention!
As a Team going into next season, we feel like we have an amazing group of talented athletes. And now that they are all competing and working together in the same field, and with great Team leadership from Jake Armstrong, Team Bobs-bicycles.com is going to be a power house in 2014 season!
