Was a long hot weekend in Baker City for the Devo. Team. This being the biggest stage race of the year, it was also the most difficult. Lots of preparation went into this event, starting with getting all of the Cat. 5 Racers upgraded to Cat. 4 Racers! Doug Cook, John Palumbo and Tim Backoff all upgraded to Cat.4 for this event so that they could work with Jake Armstrong whom was previously the only Cat. 4 Racer for Team Bobs-Bicycles.com.
For all riders it was a new experience! For Jake, he now had teammates and for the three newly upgraded Cat.4 Racers it would be the longest race any of them had ever done.
All racers had their moments throughout the Stages. Doug Cook had a good TT and won the Crit. Race with an early move that he held onto for the win! John Palumbo had an equally good finish in the TT and was instrumental in Dougs Crit. win. Tim Backoff had two great road race stages and working with his Teammates finished 26th for the overall standings. Tim also set a personal best in the Crit. race- Great job Tim! Jake Armstrong stayed consistent and showed his skill in all events! His talent and training came to the forefront on the longest and most grueling final stage of the race, where Jake finished in 3rd place netting him 7th Place in the overall! – Great job everyone!
Jake’s wife Lisa Kolesar and Boise VeloWomen Racer won the overall for her category!!
