Bobs-Bicycles.com Developmental Team riders Tim Backoff, Doug Cook and John Palumbo all upgrade to Category 4! Jake Armstrong and Ed Philps our only previous Cat4 riders now have a Team to work with in the up-coming Baker City Classic.
In the Devo Team’s first race as Cat4, the Nampa Criterium, Doug Cook took the win in a sprint finish in a stacked field of Cat1 Masters riders and experienced Cat4 racers! Ed Philps was also in the mix early in a very high paced first 10 laps. Doug Cook battled with the lead riders, and when the pace let up, was still in contention along with John Palumbo. John Palumbo was instrumental in the race keeping the race leaders in check and allowing Doug Cook to rest in the pack. Doug Cook then made his way to the front of the pack in the final laps and then into contention for a sprint finish and the win! John Palumbo finished in the main group in 5th or 6th position. Tim Backoff had an early pedal strike that took him out of the main group and was unable to catch back on. Ed Philps was also unable to latch onto the main pack after the high paced start.
As a Team, Bob’s rode a very effective race and everyone contributed to the win! In a stacked Masters 1-2 and Cat4 combined event, the effort was very high, but Bob’s Team racers, although not as experienced, showed elite level toughness!!
Great job Team!
